.. And They Did

Downtown view from his new workstation

My heartfelt rant some weeks ago bore fruit.  He got the job!

I give thanks to Almighty God for His provision to my son of a fine permanent, full time job in the CBD.  He is a different young man with purpose and vision, excitement and hope.  I asked the Lord for a blessing on those people who gave my Son a chance.  Thank You.

Would Someone Please Give My Son A Chance

We raised this young man to be responsible, to think of others above himself.  To honour a good day's work for a good day's pay.  To be a "worker".  To respect women, to be God honouring and God fearing.  Yet it seems this isn't valued in today's job market.  We hardly ever get acknowledgement of our applications then when an interview is granted we don't get the job.  As time and interviews/applications go on, we get more wisdom.  We know now after an interview we have the right of feedback on why we weren't successful so we inquire.  Too young, not enough experience, high calibre of applicants continue to echoe in our sad and weary ears.

As parents it is becoming quite an emotional burden as we watch this fine young man begin to despair of a place for himself in society.  We didn't choose the University route because of moral concerns.  He has a respectable Diploma level education from an accredited college.  Everyone we meet sympathises and gives stories of their own journies.  Cold comfort to us and to our Son.

We volunteer and sensibly wait and watch and hope and indeed, pray.  When I look out at the workforce I see much older people and grumpy people who hate their jobs.  Makes me wonder.  We don't want to dissolve into bitterness and keep the talk positive for our Son's benefit as well as our own however as blogs go, I'm pondering things this afternoon.

Will someone please give our young people a chance, an opportunity to be trained, to be given a go, to be given the benefit of the doubt over an older worker, to be imbued with trust and grace.

Children

Hold them close when they are young, spend time and more time with them.  Give them boundaries, guidelines, rules.  Enforce these with grace and love.  Build a relationship with each one from the day they are born.  Only time together can do this.  Only love that God the Father showed us told us how to do it.  Keep on, day after day after day.  Make mistakes, ask forgiveness of them and of the Lord then pick yourself up and go again.  You are making a life together.  The day they walk out of the house to their first job; it's too late to start.  By now they are walking this earth with the values we instilled into them.  Who were they watching all those years now gone by.  I have come to know they watch someone or something.  If it isn't us, we set them up to fail.

On the day of her first job interview.  Today she is packing up her apartment to come back home.  Two years nursing experience in Sydney and a now a new job here in Brisbane.  Praise God.

My happy little man who loved to bake pancakes.  Budd graduated high school this year.  He is out most days now working casual and next year studying College. Where did this time go!

My eldest son, graduated College and working in IT Support.  Mathew Jnr. is a faithful son, tender before the Lord and I describe him as my rock.

Being A Mother

My daughters and I
There is no more demanding work in all the world,no more awe-inspiring job description than raising Godly seed.It will challenge the genius, talent and grace that any human being could possess. It is the highest calling any woman can enter.
Walter J. Chantry

Yet no one will tell you that.  When my daughters are asked what they want to do in life, never has anyone been ready for the answer: "to be a good wife and mother one day".  Why is motherhood and marriage deemed second prize or even only if nothing else happens.  I have blogged on this subject for years and always get bogged down in being too serious.  Here I go again.  Ah, anyhow, along with encouragement and nice platitudes let me here present the world view as well and how I cope with it.
Diane.
