I Was Reminded Today That ..

I was reminded today of something I knew yet didn't think of it "that" way.  Something I am very aware of as a possible stumbling block, a possible source of idolatry on my part.

Liebster Award Nomination

I have blogged since 2005 and I can say it's been an off/on again experience for me.  Security and privacy concerns, humility and vanity concerns too for this writer!  My blog is to encourage, to lift up and to celebrate first my faith and then the fruits of that faith, my Home.

My home is my Husband, Mathew, and my six beautiful children.  It is also importantly my extended family and friends, together with my day to day walk with this great one true God.

So with humble thanks to Hannah for her nomination for The Liebster Award for Happy Wife And Mother, I'd like to tell you a bit about what this Award is and its purpose.

Here are the official rules:

If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:

1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
2. Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
3. Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
4. Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
5. Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
6. Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
7. List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:
8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)

And so, to the 11 questions Hannah has put to me to answer:  Read on!

1. How long have you been blogging?  I have been blogging on and off for 11 years this year since 2005.

2. Are you a coffee drinker?  If so, how do you like it?  I love the smell of brewing coffee and have a coffee machine in our home for guests because I like the smell but I don't drink it.  I love tea, hot chocolate and mocha though.  I do have iced coffee each day on skim.

3. Do you have a blog schedule or are you a sporadic poster?  No, I post when life gives me a moment in time.  Often a photo opportunity I see will develop into a post for me or maybe just that, a snap shot of our day!

4. What's your favourite food?  I like chicken schnitzel and I also like Rainbow Beef or Peking Beef it's sometimes called at our local chinese.

5. Where's your favourite spot to blog?  Right here at the kitchen table looking out over my palm grove here in Queensland.

6. Is blogging a part time or full time thing for you?  It's strictly part time/hobby but one I really enjoy.

7. Are you a cat lover, dog lover, or both?  We have two ragdoll cats and a labrador dog.  I must say I am a dog person first.  The cats are great for the children especially ragdoll cats that, as their name implies, hang limp in little hands and allow themselves to be dressed and carried around the house by children.

8.  What are some blog goals you have?  I'd love to have this whole blog to facebook to pinterest to instagram thing set up where I post and everyone is updated instantaneously.  So quick, streamlined, useful and blessing material goes out and my priorities here in the home are not compromised.  So then blogging remains a hobby and fits in with my life.

9. Besides writing, what's your favourite thing to do?  I love reading books, dating my husband!, sitting enjoying good conversation with my children, a good meal in a cosy restaurant - it's gotta be a booth! Car rides, travel of any kind and chocolate eating.

10. Do you advertise your blog on social media?  If so, which platforms?  Yes.  Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram.  Haven't tackled Twitter yet ...

11. Who is the most inspirational/influential person in your life?  It's going to be Jesus Christ, God the Son.  Every bit as real and relevant to me as my best friend on this earth to the extent - He is my best friend, my brother and my King.  Love that!

Now as part of the Nomination process - 11 "Random" Facts about me:

1. I'm always smiling, it's how I am
2. I am shy and introverted too
3. If I'm confident I'm the life of the party
4. I seem to attract the tall poppy syndrome wherever I go
5. I am lonely for good friends and community
6. Love those dark chocolate maltesers
7. Really passionate about anything marriage, family
8. See more in black and white than most people would like ..
9. Never dated just married
10. Adore Debbie Macomber books - there's a confession
11. Just don't like negative, paranoid people but you'd never know - queen of "put on a happy face"

Hope I haven't scared anyone off .....

My Liebster Award Nominees will appear in an upcoming and updated post together with their very own 11 up, close and personal questions to answer !!

Blogging By Me

As I journey through this life the Lord has chosen for me, one day at a time, through valleys and through shadows, then onwards to mountain tops and open, green meadows with views for miles.

May I stop to smell the daisies at my feet, thank the Creator, the one true God for them along with the bindi eyes and passpalum (sp?) that makes me itchy and irritated.

Let me remember wise words to "remember I am but a tourist, an ambassador for the Lord and must always remain one.  Not to be too indulgent with my experiences and get lost in selfish me-isms so that I may tell my story and where possible and where invited and where needed to
light the way for others".
