To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: ... The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: ... My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
And so as one of our Sons begins his journey of standing by what he believes, of standing against the tide of what everyone else says, thinks or does, we tremble and hold fast to God's promises for him.
We may and do let God go, we walk away from Him, we close our ears and eyes from Him but He does not walk away from His Word, His promises to us. He is truth and life.
Today Mathew and I hold to this and very little else. It's scary, rough, unfair but it is life and it is truth. And God's in it.
